Meet Outta the Cage.

Our mission at Outta the Cage is to get shelter animals seen as individuals so we can find them forever families.

Outta the Cage began when a group of technology professionals started volunteering at California’s high-kill shelters. Our grassroots efforts and background in data analytics taught us successful tactics for getting these animals adopted.

We put special focus on “at-risk” dogs, including seniors, special needs animals, and so-called dominant breeds. These dogs are often overlooked by potential adopters but, through targeted networking, promotion and training, they can become wonderful companions.

Outta the Cage was started by Jill Dyché. As a lifelong dog rescuer, Jill knows that dogs rarely show their best selves in a chaotic shelter environment. Jill and her team video shelter dogs and network them in their communities and on social media, where many of the posts go viral. Moreover, as a strategy consultant and acclaimed author of four books on the business value of technology, Jill understands the application of marketing and storytelling to homeless pets.

From time to time, Outta the Cage also advises shelters, rescues, animal advocacy groups, and private companies on the application of information technology to animal welfare. Jill is on the technology task force at Best Friends Animal Society and a member of the American Pets Alive HASS (Human and Animal Support Services) team.

Outta the Cage is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN 81-2662285) and all U.S. donations are tax deductible. Our team is comprised solely of volunteers, and donations never go to pay salaries.
